J.F. Allen Company completes the North Central West Virginia Runway Extension and Runway Area Safety Improvements project. This includes extending the runway 800 feet and adding numerous safety features to the airport. Details of the project include 374,000 yards of excavation, 1,600 linear feet of storm water pipe with two underground storm water retention systems, 4,300 linear feet of under drain pipe, 50,000 tons of sub and aggregate base course material, 22,000 tons of Hot Mix Asphalt, 240,000 square feet of pavement markings, 7,000 linear feet of milling (existing runway surface), grooving the runway, relocation of 12 MSLR towers, displacement and relocation of thresholds, and the relocation of various FAA equipment and buildings.
