John Allen Named the North Central WV American Society of Highway Engineers Man of the Year
John C. Allen exemplifies the ideals of the ASHE organization through his hard work and contribtuions to the design and construction of highway and bridge infrastructure throughout the state of West Virginia. In 2009, John was named the ASHE Man of the Year.
West Virginia Holmes Safety Association Safety Award
On May 10, 2008, Steve Sherrard traveled to Oglebay Park in Wheeling to attend the WV Holmes Safety Association’s annual award ceremony. In attendance were a number of surface and underground coal mining operations, coal prep plants and one Quarry, J. F. Allen Company’s Aggregates Quarry. Steve accepted the 2007 West Virginia Holmes Association Safety Award in recognition of the Aggregates Quarry’s outstanding safety record in 2007. J. F. Allen Company was the only quarry recognized with this award in the region, which includes Southeast Ohio, Southwest Pennsylvania, and the state of West Virginia.
Aggregates Quarry achieves One Million Safe Hours Without a Lost Time Accident
Since 1975, J.F. Allen Company has operated the Aggregates Quarry safely mining more than one million tons of quality limestone each year. From October 1994 to March 2007 the Aggregates Quarry accumulated one million safe hours without a lost time accident. During this timeframe approximately 13,284,437 tons of limestone was crushed. Governor Joe Manchin joined J.F. Allen Company in celebrating this milestone of an accomplishment.
